A former farm and equestrian centre are being converted into a luxury residential development on the outskirts of London. Set in rolling countryside with excellent transport links the site includes two listed barns, cottages and an array of agricultural buildings.

 

Proposals include the renovation of two existing Grade II listed barns, the replacement of two existing dwellings with two new cottages and a detached contemporary new barn which creates a mix in line with local and government planning policy.

The new 4 bedroom contemporary barn has been designed to reflect the local vernacular and materials externally with an interior which is modern and open. The form and mass of the barn have been developed in line with the strict green belt policy however through a contemporary design we have been able to achieve a 4 bedroom dwelling. The main open living/kitchen area has views out to the south and the private gardens whilst internally new timber trusses have been designed to assist in articulating the main living space.
